Abstract

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a generic wireless system that transmits a unique identity code using radio waves. This type of technology has a great efficiency in tracking products. Currently there are some RFID applications in the aeronautical industry, but they are more focused on the areas of logistics (Supply Chain) and maintenance. Associating RFID with industry 4.0 trends, a study was prepared for monitoring and traceability of tools based on radio frequency identification technology. A real case study will be carried out and analyzed on the implementation of a tool tracking and location system in an aeronautical industry production line using a fixed antenna, a set of passive TAGs and simulation programs, in order to monitor large areas and identify possible FOs (foreign objects) that could damage the aircraft during flight.
