Abstract

The term fake news has several interpretations, in short it is used to define fake news, and is directed to the digital reality to resign information that has the purpose of harming an individual or institutions. The contents are shared by websites and social networks, the most popular being Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp, the spread of fake news can also occur through robots, in their political and financial nature. Combating the fakes news that are the responsibility of digital platforms, users and also the government, can be carried out by checking the sources that published the news and through public measures. The research aims to address through a bibliographic review the possible consequences that fake news can bring to society's daily life. Analyzes show that misinformation on the political scene has an influence on electoral processes directly interfering in democracy. Research also points out that incorrect information can demoralize someone's legacy or risk human health. It is possible to consider that access to the internet and, consequently, the large amounts of information linked daily can cause real consequences to the population, but further study would be needed to infer how fake news affects informational behaviors.
