CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT THE RURAL ENVIRONMENTAL REGISTRATION AND ITS IMPLEMENTATION

CASE STUDY BASED ON AN ANALYSIS FROM PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Abstract

The Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) is a fundamental instrument for the environmental regularization of rural properties in Brazil. It was established by the Forest Code of 2012 (Law 12.651/12) and aims to register environmental information of rural properties, such as permanent preservation areas, legal reserves, and remnants of native vegetation. The importance of CAR lies in its ability to assist in the environmental management of rural properties, promoting the conservation of natural resources and environmental regularization. However, the implementation of CAR faces several difficulties, such as limited internet access in rural areas, lack of technical training for landowners, and the operational fragility of environmental agencies. Through exploratory bibliographic research and the author’s professional experience, the article proposes a practical guide to help rural producers fill out the CAR, including a description of the steps for collecting environmental data, using geospatial tools, and submitting information to the CAR system. It also highlights the importance of collaboration between rural landowners, technicians, and environmental agencies to ensure the effectiveness of the process.
