The current market is competitive, which is why companies need to continually improve their processes, avoid waste, serve their customers satisfactorily and obtain profitability. The Kanban system, combined with the Just In Time philosophy of pulled production, enables the company to produce according to the existing demand, where the supply of items for production takes place in the quantity and at the exact moment from the customer's request. The use of the Kanban system applied to inventory management processes allows a company to clearly what should be produced and at what time, avoiding overproduction, or even production below demand, which would result in the customer not being served at the deadline. This article aims to present, through the methodology of a descriptive research based on a bibliographic review, how a metallurgical company works wich migrated from a pushed production system to a pulled system in some of its segments, using the Kanban system. The main results of the research showed how the application of this tool can favor the flow of production and materials in its production process, which allowed us to conclude that it contributes to its productivity and competitiveness.
