POLLUTANT GAS EMISSION SENSORS PROTOTYPES FOR AIR QUALITY ANALYSIS

The effects of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere in urban centers cause numerous health problems. Considering the predominantly dry, low-humidity climate of the northern region of São Paulo state, monitoring air quality, such as CO2 emissions, should be a priority. Therefore, this study sought to develop two prototypes based on microcontroller platforms, using different CO2 sensing modules at different georeferenced locations to analyze pollutant gas emissions and analyze the results. The prototypes provided important information on reading stability and emissions generated on different dates. The study is quite challenging because it involves many variables, such as building remote sensing devices to capture pollutant gas emissions; developing the coding for the devices to ensure correct operation, such as taking timed readings while disconnected from any online device; georeferencing the locations and analyzing the results. The results presented proved to be stable and enlightening regarding the conditions experienced in the selected region.
