Cost-saving refers to the set of strategies, practices, and actions adopted by an organization with the aim of reducing its operational expenses without compromising process efficiency. In this context, the present article analyzes the economic and operational feasibility of implementing an internal fuel supply station with a capacity of 15,000 liters, intended to serve a private fleet of 12 trucks. The research adopts a quantitative approach through the case study method, applied to a transportation company in the agribusiness sector located in the interior of São Paulo, based on real data on diesel consumption and costs during the first quarter of 2025. The results show that fuel represents a significant portion of operational costs in road transportation, and that adopting proprietary fueling infrastructure can lead to considerable savings. In addition to financial benefits, the installation of an internal fueling station allows for greater control over consumption, strengthens bargaining power with suppliers, and provides better budget predictability. It is concluded that this is a viable cost-saving strategy, directly contributing to the competitiveness and sustainability of the company’s logistics operations.

Abstract

Cost-saving refers to the set of strategies, practices, and actions adopted by an organization with the aim of
reducing its operational expenses without compromising process efficiency. In this context, the present article
analyzes the economic and operational feasibility of implementing an internal fuel supply station with a capacity
of 15,000 liters, intended to serve a private fleet of 12 trucks. The research adopts a quantitative approach through
the case study method, applied to a transportation company in the agribusiness sector located in the interior of
São Paulo, based on real data on diesel consumption and costs during the first quarter of 2025. The results show
that fuel represents a significant portion of operational costs in road transportation, and that adopting proprietary
fueling infrastructure can lead to considerable savings. In addition to financial benefits, the installation of an
internal fueling station allows for greater control over consumption, strengthens bargaining power with suppliers,
and provides better budget predictability. It is concluded that this is a viable cost-saving strategy, directly
contributing to the competitiveness and sustainability of the company’s logistics operations.
