DEVELOPMENT OF AN INVENTORY MANAGEMENT TOOL TO ASSIST THE TEACHING OF WAREHOUSE TECHNICAL COURSES

Abstract

The utilization of tools in teaching environments should be seen with a new perspective, since they enable students to have a better interaction with the subjects, in a way to better fix this knowledge and the subjects that are covered in classes. The objective of this article is to address the construction of a web-based inventory management system, named Sigrest, which will serve as a teaching tool for warehouse technical courses, having the options to manipulate products, manage users and handle requisition and return processes, to guarantee the understanding of the students toward the subjects presented in the course. The methodology used was the bibliographical research in books, articles, websites, and news. The results indicate the main requirements and interfaces of the tool, highlighting the importance of tools in the teaching as learning facilitator, and the process needed to apply to an educational institution. It was concluded that the utilization of Sigrest in the mentioned course can enhance students’ performance and understanding on the subjects and improve their prospects in the job market.
