A STORYTELLING WITH DATA ON POWER BI

Abstract

Every day, companies feed their databases with the most diverse information, be it a new sale, a new registered product, a new customer, among other needs that routine demands. As a result, this information ends up generating a large volume of raw data that often ends up being unused or even lost, as many are still unaware of the numerous insights that can be extracted. Storytelling helps in transforming this raw data and understanding valuable information. Some tools work with these data sets, unifying all the bases into a single solution or platform, where they are treated and corrected so that they present more visible interfaces and visuals, facilitating the user experience and providing better decision making. They are software that translate what the numbers tell, demonstrating performance, showing relationships and comparisons, warning about impacts and losses, among other things. Power BI is one of the countless tools on the market that features these specific tools. Since 2015, it has been provided free of charge by Microsoft and is currently one of the most used for both educational and commercial purposes. Therefore, this article aims to demonstrate that through the correct application of data storytelling in a dashboard, the best and most agile insights can be extracted to optimize decision making, in addition to seeing the importance of this application in the current technological scenario where information is crucial for making more accurate decisions.
