Abstract

Risk management in road freight transport is fundamental within organizations, since transport in Brazil is a constant target of cargo theft. However, cooperatives have realized the importance of logistics as a competitive factor, developing their operations and mainly guaranteeing safety in transport, for example, of agricultural pesticides. Therefore, the objective of this article is to identify the benefits and difficulties encountered by an agricultural cooperative in the risk management process in the transport of pesticides. To achieve this objective, qualitative research was carried out, operationalized by a case study in an agricultural cooperative in the interior of São Paulo. To collect data, semi-structured interviews were carried out with three employees involved in the process of implementing the risk management system. Among the results obtained, it was identified that risk management is a fundamental element for efficiency and safety in transport. On the other hand, it is clear that the main difficulty encountered revolves around issues related to training and qualification of the teams involved in the process
