Abstract

This article aims to describe and present the Autonomous Maintenance pillar, belonging to the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodology, and to verify the effects of its implementation in a small citrus industry. In the following sections of this article we will present in detail what the concept of Autonomous Maintenance consists of, briefly MA brings the idea that the operator must have autonomy to take care of the machine he handles, and among several benefits, the main one is the reduction of failures throughout the process, increasing the company's productivity. We will also mention several internal factors that can improve the performance of this method within the company, such as, for example, the increase in the dialogue between production and maintenance departments; and we will present some benefits perceived within the company after the implementation of the MA, which were noticeable at different levels, from subordinates to superiors, being aware that the MA's main link is the operator.
