Abstract

Videoconferencing platforms are becoming more and more popular among students and workers, considerably altering the dynamics of business, teaching and learning. In this way, this study seeks to assess positive and negative points regarding the use of these platforms, especially in relation to the adoption of these systems for offering online classes. For this, it seeks for theoretical studies that justify the growth trend of this teaching modality, trying  to understand aspects such as focus, harm  and interaction in the use of such technologies. In order to observe these characteristics in practice, the study presents a quantitative survey, in which 100 students from Fatec Taquaritinga System Analysis and Development Technology Course are asked about their experiences in remote classes. What can be seen from this study is that although there are several positive aspects in relation to the adoption of such platforms, the daily class hours, often added to the online workload, present high levels fatigue or wear and tear for many students, not to mention that online interaction and participation do not flow as naturally as in face-to-face classes, which can put students and teachers in certain difficulties in the teaching and learning process. There is, in this sense, a vast path to be explored in order to make online classes more productive and less stressful.
