The AIAG/VDA FMEA is an essential methodology in risk management and quality improvement within the automotive industry. This study aims to analyze the benefits and challenges of implementing this approach in a multinational automotive parts manufacturer. The research, descriptive and qualitative in nature, was conducted through a case study involving semi-structured interviews with three experienced professionals. The results indicated that the application of the AIAG/VDA FMEA promotes failure prevention, reduces costs related to rework and recalls, and improves product reliability. Additionally, the methodology contributes to team integration and the optimization of production processes. However, challenges such as resistance to adopting the method, the need for continuous training, and documentation complexity were identified as obstacles to effective implementation. The research reinforces the importance of AIAG/VDA FMEA as a strategic tool for the automotive industry, highlighting the need for investment in training and technology to maximize its benefits.
